Our impact

Donor support reached 12,400 children last year

This page is the proof. Every number below comes from our own case files: emergency rent and utility help that kept families housed, counseling sessions booked within a week, clinic visits paid for, and tutoring hours that pulled students back to grade level. Bright Futures Kids Foundation publishes what donor dollars actually changed, program by program.

Outcomes you can count

What did donor support actually deliver for children last year?

Donors funded emergency aid, counseling, healthcare, and tutoring for 18,400 children across 41 communities last year. Every number below comes from our caseworker records and is reviewed by an independent auditor before we publish it. Where a figure is an estimate, we say so.

Children and families reached

Reach is measured by individual case files, not by event attendance, so no child is counted twice. A family is counted once per year even when they use several programs.

How we count these numbers

  • Audited

An independent accounting firm reviews our program spending and outcome totals each year before we publish them.

  • Case-verified

Every child counted here has an open case file with a named caseworker, so totals reflect real people, not event headcounts.

  • Updated quarterly

Figures refresh four times a year. Any correction we make is noted in the following quarter's donor report.

Outcomes by program

What do donations actually change in each program?

Donations become four measurable kinds of help: rent and utility rescue, counseling hours, clinic visits, and tutoring sessions. We report the result of each program over the last twelve months, counted from case files rather than estimates. Where a child receives help from more than one program, that child is counted once.

Emergency financial assistance
1,480 families kept housed
Rent, utility, and prescription grants were released within 72 hours of an approved request, so children stayed in the same home and the same school through the crisis.
Counseling & mental health
9,600 sessions delivered
Licensed therapists worked with 1,150 children at no cost to their families. Four out of five reported lower anxiety scores after their sixth session.
Healthcare access
3,340 clinic visits covered
Checkups, vaccinations, dental care, and glasses reached children whose families had no insurance. Our care navigators also enrolled 610 children in ongoing coverage.
Education & tutoring
92% advanced a grade level
Students in weekly tutoring gained an average of 1.4 reading levels across the school year, and 218 graduating seniors received scholarships or supply grants.

Stories behind the numbers

What does impact look like for one child?

It looks like a bed that stays in the same apartment, a prescription that gets filled, and a report card that turns around in one term. The families below came to Bright Futures Kids Foundation during an emergency and stayed for the tutoring, counseling, and healthcare that followed. Every photo and quote on this page is shared with the family's permission.

How we follow a family after the crisis

Emergency aid is the first call, not the last one. A caseworker checks in with every family at 30 days, six months, and one year, and records whether the child stayed housed, stayed enrolled, and stayed in care.

How do we know this impact is real?

We track every dollar from the moment it arrives to the child it reaches. The answers below explain how funds are allocated across our four programs, how outcomes are measured by our caseworkers, and which documents you can read for yourself. If a question is not answered here, our donor care team will answer it directly.

Want the underlying figures first? Review our verified impact statistics.

01

How is my donation actually spent?

87 cents of every dollar goes directly into our four programs: emergency financial assistance, counseling and mental health, healthcare access, and education and tutoring. The remaining 13 cents covers the fundraising and administration needed to keep those programs running. Allocation is reviewed quarterly by our board, and unrestricted gifts are moved to whichever program has the longest waiting list that quarter.

02

How do you measure impact for each child?

Every family that enters a program is assigned a caseworker who records a baseline at intake and follow-up outcomes at 90 days and one year. We count concrete things a parent would recognize: nights of housing kept, counseling sessions attended, clinic visits completed, and school terms finished on time. Those case records roll up into the numbers published on this page, so a statistic here is always the sum of individual children, never an estimate.

03

Who verifies the figures you publish?

An independent accounting firm audits our financial statements each year, and our board of directors reviews program results every quarter before anything is published. Program totals are reconciled against bank disbursements and signed caseworker records, so the money reported and the money moved always match. Any correction we make is noted in the following annual report rather than quietly edited.

04

Can I direct my gift to one specific program?

Yes. You can restrict a gift to emergency financial assistance, counseling and mental health, healthcare access, or education and tutoring by noting the program when you give. Restricted gifts are held in a separate ledger line and spent only on that program. Most donors choose to give unrestricted, which lets our caseworkers move funds to the child in front of them the same week.

05

How quickly does help reach a family in crisis?

Emergency aid is approved and disbursed within 72 hours of a verified request, because a shut-off notice or an eviction date does not wait for a grant cycle. Counseling intake usually begins the following week, and tutoring placement follows the school calendar. Recurring monthly gifts are what make that speed possible, since the funds are already in place when a call comes in.

06

How do you protect the privacy of the children you serve?

Case files are confidential and are never shared with donors, and no photograph or story appears on this site without written consent from a parent or guardian. Some names are changed at a family's request, and we say so when that happens. Reporting on outcomes should never cost a child their dignity, so we publish aggregate numbers and consented stories only.
