Emergency giving

Your gift reaches a child in crisis within 72 hours

Every donation becomes emergency aid for a child who cannot wait. When a family loses housing, a prescription goes unfilled, or a student falls behind, Bright Futures Kids Foundation steps in with rent help, counseling, healthcare access, and tutoring. Choose an amount below and your support goes to work this week.

Donations are processed securely, and every gift is receipted for tax purposes. Prefer to give monthly? You can switch to recurring giving on the next step.

Your Impact in Numbers

What does a donation to Bright Futures actually do?

Last year, donor gifts reached 12,480 children across 38 communities with emergency aid, counseling, healthcare, and tutoring. Every figure below comes from our annual program audit, published each spring.

We report outcomes, not just totals: how many families kept their housing, how many kids finished the school year, how many counseling sessions were delivered. Choose a giving amount on this page once you have seen the numbers.

Where does your donation actually go?

Every gift is split across the four programs that keep a child safe, healthy, and in school. Of each dollar we receive, 87 cents funds direct services, 8 cents covers administration, and 5 cents supports fundraising so we can reach the next family. Here is how the program share breaks down.

  • 38%

    Emergency financial assistance

Rent, utilities, groceries, and transport released within 72 hours so a family in crisis stays together and a child stays in one school.

  • 24%

    Education & tutoring

After-school tutoring, school supplies, exam fees, and scholarships that help students catch up and finish the year on track.

  • 20%

    Healthcare access

Clinic visits, prescriptions, dental and vision care, and the paperwork support families need to enroll in ongoing coverage.

  • 18%

    Counseling & mental health

One-to-one sessions with licensed child counselors, family support groups, and crisis response for kids carrying more than they should.

Donor Voices

Why our recurring donors keep giving

Monthly donors tell us the same thing: steady giving is what keeps emergency aid ready before a family ever has to ask. Below, supporters who give every month explain in their own words why they started and why they stay.

“I give $35 a month because it is quiet and dependable. A family in crisis does not schedule the crisis — the money has to already be there.”

Beyond a one-time gift

What are the other ways to give?

There are four more ways to fund emergency aid for children: corporate matching, planned giving, in-kind donations, and community fundraising events. Each one turns a different kind of generosity into counseling sessions, school supplies, medical visits, and rent kept paid. Pick the path that fits you — our team will handle the paperwork.

After a successful donation, a quick confirmation popup appears on screen with your receipt number, and a tax-deductible receipt lands in your inbox within minutes.

Giving FAQ

Answers before you give

Every question below is one our donor care team answers most often — tax deductibility, where the money lands, how to change a monthly gift, and what happens if something goes wrong. If your question isn't here, a real person will answer it within one business day.

01

Is my donation to Bright Futures tax deductible?

Yes. Bright Futures Kids Foundation is a registered nonprofit organization, and gifts from donors in the United States are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Our tax identification number is printed on every receipt we send, so you can file without chasing paperwork. Keep that emailed receipt — it is the documentation your accountant needs.

02

Where does my money actually go?

Your gift is directed into the four program areas that keep children stable and in school:

  • Emergency financial assistance — rent, utilities, food, and transport during a family crisis.
  • Counseling & mental health — licensed sessions for children carrying trauma or loss.
  • Healthcare access — appointments, prescriptions, glasses, and dental care.
  • Education & tutoring — supplies, tutoring hours, and school fees.

For the full breakdown, read where your money goes across our programs.

03

How do I change, pause, or cancel a monthly donation?

You stay in control of a recurring gift at all times. Every monthly receipt includes a secure management link where you can raise or lower your amount, switch your payment card, pause for a few months, or cancel outright — no phone call and no explanation required. Changes made before your next charge date take effect immediately, and you can also message our donor care team to update your recurring gift.

04

What is your refund policy if I make a mistake?

We refund donation errors in full. If you entered the wrong amount, gave twice by accident, or did not intend to start a monthly gift, contact us within 30 days of the charge and we will return the funds to the original payment method. Refunds usually appear on your statement within five to ten business days, and we will send you a corrected receipt for your records.

05

When will I get my donation receipt?

Your receipt is emailed automatically the moment your payment clears. Monthly donors receive a receipt for each charge plus a single year-end summary every January that totals your giving for tax filing. If a receipt never arrived, check your spam folder first, then ask us to resend it to any address you prefer.

06

Can I give in another way — matching gifts, stock, or in kind?

Yes, and some of those routes stretch your gift further. Many employers match charitable donations dollar for dollar, and we are happy to complete whatever verification form your company requires. We also accept planned gifts, in-kind supplies, and community fundraisers — see other ways to give to Bright Futures.
